I have an adapter tube and wide angle lens for this camera, it all works as described, and sadly thats part of my problem.

When I have the adapter tube screwed in tight it activates that little button behind the threads on the camera body that puts it into macro mode. This is functioning perfectly as described in the manual and makes some sense due to the lens also have the multi purpose of being a macro enhancing lens when seperated.

To use this lens as a wide angle lens I have to unscrew the tube adapter a little to release the macro switch otherwise I dont get a focused image. Is there a work around for this problem or is unscrewing it the only solution?

I've been kicking around the idea of having a few threads machined off of the tube adapter but thats as a last ditch effort. I dont really shot a lot of macro but I shoot a LOT of wide angle and loose the odd shot if I dont pay attention to whether or not I've unscrewed the tube enough.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Could you tell me which adaptor and wide lens you bought?
