I was searching for some good reports on the 828. Is it true Sony is not producing this camera anymore? It was on my list next to a digital rebel. might have to go DSLR then for sure if it is oop. :-?

It's no longer being made, but will still be available until stock runs out.

Hello All,

Is that report on the F-828's end ofproduction confirmed?

Was there a news report or press release?

Going the DSLR route can cost >$2,000 when you count the lens, etc.

Regards, Nicholas

That's what I was told by Sony Support. The F828 is no longer being manufactured, but will still be sold on until their stock runs out.

Hi CyberSshotNut,

This news then suggests a revised F-828 is coming, or is Sony going the V3 route from now on?

Regards, Nicholas

I'm hoping there will be a revised version of the F828 coming soon. I guess only time will tell. The V3 is a great camera, but I'd like something with a faster lens.

A faster lens than the V3??????? What?????? It's the fastest camera period.

I heard the annual electronics convention is coming out Jan. 6 or 7 and will be on Tech TV and there is where the new digital cameras will be announced. I think Sony will announce it's f828 replacement there!!!

Stay tuned.....................

The camera show is in Vegas. Keep checking the news pages of all the major review sites, as they are already starting to announce new models before the show (but nothing on an 828 replacement yet).

"Afaster lens" meaning brighter lens. The V3 starts out af f2.8 and goes to f4.0 at 4x zoom, which is the reason I still use my F717 which starts at f2.0 and goes to f2.4 at 5x zoom. For very low light night shots, the F717 has given me better results than the V3.
