I've just taken delivery of my new DSC-W5.
I'm wondering whether I should protect the large LCD screen with clear screen protector film. What do you guys think? Will it affect how I see the image on the LCD screen ie outdoors? What clear film should I use? Thanks for any assistance..... |

It certainly wouldn't hurt to protect the screen. I just bought the protectors that are used to protect PDA screens and cut them to fit the LCD on my V3. It doesn't affect viewing the LCD. I've had the same one on for 6 months so the pack should last forever. They can be bought at OfficeMax or any other office supply store for about $10.

I've been using the PDA Screen protector for a while. I cut one to fit my W1 while not a perfect fit it has helped. There are no issues seeing the screen. In fact its not more resistant to smudges than before.

I use the daprotector , I have them on my F717 and V3. They are 1/16" thick and laser cut to fit. I would think they would protect much better than a film. www.daproducts.com

Hello, can you take a picture of what the LCD protector looks like on the V3? I'd be interested in that for my V3! |

Here ya go cybernut... a quick shot with my L1 of the V3 with with LCD protector... dust specks and all...lol. I think you will like it. I also put one one the F717. Guess I don't need one on the P200 though.

Scoot.
Just a thought, as you live in the UK (actually just down the road from me so to speak!) I would recommend a visit to Jessops. They can supply a pack of 3 screen protectors to fit up to 3 or 4 inch screens. All you need to do is cut to size then fit and they are really cheap (about £4?). I've fitted one to my W1, seems to work fine! |

v8griff,
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, we're neighbours!!!! Thanks for the tip regarding Jessops. Actually, I'm intending to go up to Jessops and also Jacobs to look for a good camera bag. I'll now ask about the screen protectors. Very useful. Thanks |
