Thanks, Popalot...

Yoursuggestion to use Program mode with a lower intensity flash will work for me and doesn't require much thinking/setup for quick shots. Slipe's comment on Jan 10th seems to back yours up - he uses the term Auto Program Mode.

Your reference above to the H1 Whitepaper recommends not using Auto or the various Scene modes at all. What do you think? Does this seems to suggest that Auto mode is not as good as it should/could be? Go here:

I have never used auto mode in any camera I have owned and always use the P mode with the default settings I have inputted for those pick up and shoot moments. I have yet to use the scene modes but will no doubt give them a try. I think the white papers were written by someone who is always looking for the perfect picture while I have a bigger tolerance as to what is a good picture. No doubt the scene modes will help me when I require a quick change of settings.
