i use the macro function on the f717 to photograph bugs, butterflies and other critters. i'm really pleased with the results. a friend is ready to sell her minotla and get a sony after comparing pics taken in macro mode.

ive been using a fuji all this time, and the macro pics r great. it just doesnt take very good action shots, but thats because it is a very old camera. one of the first digi's to come out. thats why im looking at changing. but thanks again for the reply. |

Action not recommended. I am fed up of saying so in this forum! You will get some good shots but you will miss a lot.
Macro very good indeed. All cameras are a compromise in my view. Quit worrying and buy the Sony. See my dpotd today ! |

Action shots are real difficult, I'll agree, but not impossible. I wish i had a nickel for every time I missed a shot. I have a F707 and have used it for about a year and a half. I have gotten alot better and have pulled off some pretty amazing shots.
The 717 is a great camera - if your gonna take actions shots with (F707 or F717) you better know how to anticipate the action. Like in a football or baseball game. Anticipation is key, burst mode can help for a single event (ie: Pitching a baseball, passing in football or corner kicks in soccer). Learning your camera is key. If you need instant (like we all would like) then go with a SLRD. I have been looking at that option myself, but my Sony has been very very good to me. |
