I hope this doesn't sound silly but this is my first digital camera and so I'm experimenting with all of the settings and trying to figure out the best way to take pics using the M and P settings. So throughout the day I find myself turning on the camera for a short period, turning it off, then 10 minutes later thinking of something else I want to try and turning it on again.
I'm just wondering as an electronic device would it be better just to leave it on until it shuts off on its own or is there no problem (aside from using the batteries) in repeatedly turning it off and on. (It's just so cool I can't help it)

I wouldn't worry about it, I've turned on and off my old P5 thousands of times and never had any trouble with it.

You may run out of batteries a little sooner, as it takes energy to start it up.

This is an assumption, though, as I think any device has that.

This shouldn't cause you any problems. I wouldn't give it another thought.

Thanks for the feedback. I just wasn't sure if what I was doing was unusual because it's almost like repeatedly going back to the manual which I have also been doing but of course, that has fewer moving parts.
I'm still waiting for my memory stick to arrive so I can take a bunch of pictures at one sitting.
