Will I have to plug the whole camera in. Or does it come with a charger like a video camera (where you just put the battery on it) Or buy something additional to the camera itself?

It comes with a charger that the camera plugs into. The battery charges inside the camera.
You can buy a seperate battery charger if you need one. |

Can you tell me what the charger is called where I put the battery itself and plug it in the wall. That way I can be using my camera if I have an additional battery.

The Sony dcs-v1 uses the sony infolithium battery # NPFC11
I believe the quick-charger for it is the sony Dual AC Quick Battery Charger BC-VC10 Description: With this lightweight, portable charger for C Series batteries, you can put the power back into two batteries at once. Lists at 69.96$us. I haven't got one yet so it would be best to make sure the NPFC11 is a "C" series battery first ![]() |

The BC-VC10 will work fine. The NPFC11 battery used in the DSC-V1 is a "C" series battery. The dual battery charging capability is really nice, especially on trips. And of course the camera itself can be used as a third charging source.
