Hope thisdoesn't make melook too stupid...

I lovemy newP150so far but noticed something odd when I went to resize a picture. I had been taking at the 7 MP setting but the picture only had a 72 resolution. I know that's the standard for websites but...my old kodak (hated it) always had a resoultion in the 200s or 300s. I don't know much about how the resolution stuff works. The image itself is huge. I tried some different settings ("fine" mode) but still with the 72. Is this okay/normal? Am I doing something wrong?

My boyfriend has the DSC-T1 and I checked out a few of his pictures and they were all had a 72 resolution as well.

Any suggestions?

All digital cameras to my knowledge use 72 as the standard, and it is up to you to resize for printing prposes using Paintshop or Photoshop or whatever programme you use. I have a P150 and a D70 Nikon SLR and they are both the same.For screen purposes it doesn't matter, only for printing quality. Hope this answers you question

You have to look both pixels/inch and the size of the picture together to figure out the "true" resolution. For example: a typical 5M pixel camera give you fixed 2592 X 1944 pixels.A resolution of300 pixels/inch will give you 8.64 X 6.48 inch print. The same picture will give you 36 X 27 inch print (a much big one) if you use 72 pixel/inch resolution. You should check you file to seethe 72 pixel/inch resolution is for what kind of print size. Just remenber that resolution is pixels divided by print size. Hope this will help.
