the more u think about it and more comparing leads to more questions and more comparing and more questions with new cameras coming out each week aswell!

What you need to do is what is main reason for camera pictures family friends, outdoors, just to get ride of that old 35mm and the hassles of film developing

email them look on computer screen or print them
3MP or greater will do great on all this and large prints
what will pictures do print out in sizes 5'x7' 8'x11' or larger even
do u want a Huge Zoom especially for outdoor wildlife and landscapes
Battery type cost availablity my opinion is cant go wrong with AA's can get evrywhere and csot not to much to have extras and replacements
Manual / Auto or both

I wanted to get high MP at first then moderate 3-4MP
I wanted Huge zooming for landscapes but the price made me change my mind for the time being
and AA was a must
I have finally setteled on the
Minolta S414 same as the Olymus C-730 but about $200 Can cheaper and only real difference is the 3 X Optical zoom as to OLY 10 times zoom. I can get a new camera in a few years. by then more MP bigger zooms and cheaper price

so it is all up to what u need it for and what to do with it
