DSC-S85 and Windows XP?
I have conflicting reports from the Sony Website about the compatibility of the DSC-S85 and Windows XP. From their site:

Says this is the only current camera in their lineup that doesn't work with XP. However, in another support page:

The DSC P30, P50, S75, and S85 cameras feature a USB setting called PTP. The Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) is designed to eliminate the need to install camera specific drivers when connecting the camera to a computer running a PTP enabled Operating System. No additional software drivers will be necessary to allow the camera to connect to the computer when running an operating system with this feature.

The operating systems that should support PTP are:

Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP
Macintosh(R) OS X

What is the deal here? I'm not going to buy it if it doesn't work! :x

I don't care if the software driver or bundled programs don't work, I've already got all the photo editing I need, and I would rather just see the Memory Stick as a removable drive on my desktop.

If it works with Windows 2000 it will work with XP.

Thanks for the help...
Thanks everyone for your input. I purchased the S85, and, contrary to (one part) of the Sony website, it works flawlessly. Just plugged it in, and it installs itself as a Memory Stick hard drive!

Just one question: just what is PTP mode? I read that it is necesary for OSX, but does it offer any additional fuctionality in XP?
