hi
![]() im trying to decide between the sony f717 and the v1. i want a good quality camera that can work as a point and shoot when i just want to take simple snaps, but that i can use manually when i want to. i do alot of photography of friends/myself, metal sculptures, silver metallic things, anything futuristic etc for club flyers, digital art etc. and on my old sony p20 and on my canon ixus, skin tones come out WAYYY too red/orange/piink etc. i cant stand the warm tones that they bring out on people and it takes me ages desaturating each image properly and fixing up the crappy pics that these cameras produce. so im going to buy a good quality digital camera (at last) and so i had a few questions. with the f717, can you manipulate the contrast and saturation etc like you can in the v1? and does it bring out alot of warm tones? i want a camera that will be on the neutral/cold side rather than the warm hues. same question with the V1 in terms of colour balance. do you think these two models are equal? or do you have any other recomendations? i know that i dont want just a point and shoot...it has to have some manual options because its driving me crazy not having any creative control over my images atm, infact ive gone back to using my film slr and scanning images in because of the digital cameras i have :\. as i said,i need a camera that wont bring out too much pink/red/orange/yellow and oversaturate on warm tones. any help appreciated ![]() |

For all those features you wanted, I say 717.
Or better yet if you can afford it, 828. Better in all aspects I have heard and read. |

F717. The 828 has a few image quality problems but don't let that distract you from the great camera.

If physical size/ pocket-ability is not a concern; the 717 is your best bet.
