I have the MVC-CD400 and I would like to know if there is any way to use the cd-r disc in the computer without finalizing as I use up 13mb of disc space every time I finalize the disc. Thanks

I've been told that if you have Adaptec's DirectCD drivers loaded (in Windows) that you can read those discs without finalizing them.
DirectCD requires a CD-R drive, it won't work with just a CD-ROM reader. -Steve |

I received a photo CD that I was not able to read in my CD drive, but poped it in my burner and could read fine. I've been told that this is because they (originators of CD) did not finilize the session. Can I finalize it in my burner so that I can have the photos printed - they were not able to read it either. You can finalize in any CD-R/W burner and all the unused space will be lost, but this session will make the CDR readable by most if not all CDROM... Steve is also correct, you need both Adaptec software (Roxio now) and a CD-R/W burner to read an unclose CD. [Edited on 7-18-2002 by NHL] |

Thanks. I guess I will have to purchase the software at Roxio.
