Hello Shootfirst and All,
Yes, my 550Ex's are used manually. I hesitate to instruct how I did it not to have someome damage their equipment. I did not bother to look for an adapter and made my own. Check out the web for adapters from 550EX to PC sync terminal, etc. And I agree, I use rechargables but always carry 12 Alkalines ( Walgreens Drugs - on sale only ) with me. Regards, Nicholas |

Some stores show a picture of the HVL-F32X with an external sync chord. Does it come with one?
It seems that the DSC-R1 has an external sync port. 1) Does this mean that I can connect the HVL-F32X to the DSC-R1 with this chord? 2) If so, do I get all of the automatic features? 3) How long is the chord? In general, are there user manuals for this camera and this flash on line so that I could read them and stop bugging everyone with silly questions? :blah: In general, a manual repositor might be a useful thing to have on this site (barring copyright restrictions). |

- Any recommendations for a flash bracket to fit nicely with the DSC-R1 and HVL-F32X? |

Have you tried the bracket that comes with the flash? The bracket and sync cord are included in the box.

Ijust found out that my brotherhas a Sony F828 with the HVL-F32X flash.
Yes, it does come with a bracket, but the bracket is only a flat plate that mounts on the bottom. I am not sure what it accomplishes but it wont allow a swivel. |

If you really want a swivel, there is a Metz flash you can look at:

I've looked at this flash briefly. It's pretty pricey. Also, I am not sure which one to buy. Would I get the
Metz 54 MZ-4C TTL Shoe Mount Flash with Standard Non-Dedicated Shoe I guess I would also need theSCA 3602 adaptor for Sony - right? (another $100) It seems like I would get all of the functionality of the Sony flash - right? Thanks... |
