http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscf828/page10.aspgives a reveiw of the timings with MS and CF cards. Unless you wish to record video at full rate (then buy a video camera) the speed issue is not that great...... The cheapest place I found is www.7dayshop.comon the channel islands who sell CF256 for £14.99 and compatible batteries for £14.99 as well............... Hope this helps

I saw a standard Sandisk CF 1 GB card for $69.00 US.
Forget about the speed issues for still images. Enjoy your Fantastic Camera, Regards, Nicholas, www.nickphoto123.smugmug.com |

Hello,
As I understand it, Fine Quality Video can only be recorded on MS or MicroDrive. It is not available on my CF card. Regards, Nicholas |

You can't record in fine mode (30fps) in movie mode with the CF. Only on the Memory Stick Pro. You might be able to on the microdrive though.

You will need the MS-Pro to record in fine mode. One of the neat things about this camera is being able to have two types of media. We Keep a 1gb MS in the ms slot and just switch to it for video. For still imaging media I use 256mb UltraII compact flash cards. This gives you 60 8mp jpegs per card. By using several smaller cards we can run both our HiTi 730 printers while shooting (we own an event photography buisness). I found that the CF cards are a little slower than the MS in the camera but, the MS cards don't always read correctly on our onsite printers.
