Congrats on your new camera, Sarah! That's a good shot of the Seagull. The image looks pretty clean, sharp and well exposed. When you have a chance, can you post some images taken with the lensat full 15x zoom? Most inconsistencies I've seen in terms of the H9 IQ is at full zoom when sharpness becomes more of an issue. I'm curious to see the results that you get.

Glad you liked it, Sarah. I loved the Gold Country (specially during Spring time when everything is very green with lots of creeks and small lakes everywhere)along withthe many caverns and mines one can visit while up there. The photo above was taken at the California Cavern premises.

This little cabin is where the park ranger lives. A good image to use the Sepia color effect.

Nice macro shot with your H9. I think the H cameras have excellent macro capabilities and the H9 is no exception by the looks of it. The Canon S series can take macro shots as close as 0 inches, which is quite impressive but the Sony's have slightlybetter resolution (IMO, of course). I'm still curious to see a full zoom shot from your H9!

Sarah I've followed your posts for a long time now and it seems as of this moment you are holding Sony H9, H5, H2, Canon S5, S3 plus the Panasonic FZ8.

If the above is correct, if were you I would not be able to resist a lens test with this collection of superzooms.

I would set all 6 camera's at f/4 on aperture priority, focus centre weighted average, ISO 100,and find a scene with a sign or numberplate about 50ft away with grass in the forground and shoot all six at about 36mm widewith the same scene and timeto find out how they perform against each other using a tripod of coarse.

Sarah- Nice pictures with your new H9. Very sharp with good color.
Sounds like you have a nice collection of caameras to play with. Be
honest; what is your very favorite? I have a bunch too. Mostly Canons
and am sure my H2 is my pick of the bunch.. Jim

Wirraway, I really like your suggestion for Sarah to run a test with all super-zoom cameras she has on hand. I only have the H1 and FZ20 so I don't have much to compare. In fact, I don't believe I've done this exercise at all. However, my guess is that overall the H1 will come up ahead. Perhaps I'll keep myself busy this weekend. I'd add one more variable to the test and that is NO TRIPOD. This will test the implementation of theimage stabilization feature on each camera. I think the H1 has a very good IS, much better than the S2 (I've owned one over a year ago) and just as good as the Pana OIS system. I assume the H2 and H5 have the same systenm as the H1 but I'm not sure about the H9. It appeaqrs to be very good from what I've seen so far.

Gary, thanks for posting the two images from your H9. Perhaps it's my monitor but it appears that the first shot (full zoom) has some softness around the edges (more evident on the left side of the image since the right side has just water). The WA shot looks sharp throughout.

Cyber, you are right...the Gold Country is a photographer's paradise (specially during Spring time. I took hundreds of pictures during our 4-day visit. Will post some more later.
