Thanks for the great W-300 photo, wirraway-
The W-300 is doing very well for you. I especiaslly like the shot of the roses. But like, Tullio, I too feel that 3X is very limiting. We board the Island Princess for a 2 month long contract so I will be missing from the Forum for awhile. Sarah Joyce |

Thanks Tullio & Sarah for the comments. Tullio although I have not yet tried the 'Smart Zoom' feature of the W300 which will give 6.2x zoom, with 13.6 megapixels to play with you can easily get the eqivilent of 6x zoom by cropping, just tried an example below, interested in your thoughts, also Sony sell an adapter for the W300 as well as wide & tele lens and filtersif one was to bother (With the H5 I won't).

It looks like the W300 captures enough detailso tight croppingcan be donew/o loss in IQ. However, my experience withdigital zoomhas been very negative. Now, perhaps the W300 performs better than the old cameras didin this department, particularly due to the high MP. I'm certainly impressed by the quality of the images you've posted with your W300, Wirraway.
Canadian, that was a nice sunset shot. What Sony cam did you use? Angel, that was a great shot with your 717. Did you use night framingwith flash in like total darkness? I have theSony V3, which has nightshot as well as IR capabilities but I only use night shot in very dim light conditions. Just curious! |

The H50 certainly did a great job capturing the sunset. Yes, I'm impressed with the W300 as well.

Wirraway, I was reading the W300 specs and noticed that it has ISO up to 6400. If you have a chance, can you post some images using high ISO (800-3200 - with no PP to remove noise -would be great)? I'm curious as to how well the W300 handles noise at high ISO. Thanks.
