Can anyone tell me how I can remotely release the shutter release on my Sony DSC H1 camera so I can avoid camera shake. Not delayed action.

If you have decided what you're going to photograph, set the cam on a tripod or surface. press the self-portrait button and then the shutter release. There will be NO camera shake. Other than that, there isn't a remote shutter release for that camera. I've got one and that's what I do to ensure a clear focus pic.

Hope that's what you were asking.

Besides the 'timer' function described above, there's two other tricks you could use :

1. Use the "bracket" BRK mode : the H1 will take 3 snaps after pushint the shutter only once, at different apertures/EV-values ( you can set these limits), essentially giving you 3 shots under, over, and just-right exposure. For the last 2 of these 3 shots there is no additional pressing of buttons required, so the last 2 ( right exposure and under exposure) should have less camera shake then the first one.

2. Another option is to use the multi-shot mode : keeping the shutter pressed down wil give you multiple snaps at very short interval. Since you keep pressing the shutter button as longs as you're taking these pictures, you only have the camera shake on your initial push - al shutter release after that is automatic. All shots after the first one have a shake-free shutter release

Both are not ideal....I really wished I had a remote-shutter release on this cam...but both work quite well if you need to take a picture fast and don't have the time to wait for the self-portrait timer
