Okay, I will first admit that I don't use my camera as much as I used to. I will go for 2-3 weeks betwen uses.
However, it seems that every time I pick it up to use it after a couple of weeks, the bettery is dead. Even if it is a full rechargeable or a brand new name brand battery that was put in the last time it was used. Is this normal? If not, has anyone else expereinced this? |
Mine does the same thing. Dead when ever I really need it so I always have batteries charged and ready.
|
Hrmph...that's not good. I don't remember it doing that but then again, I used it a lot more then.
Anyone know if this is normal? Thanks! |
I have an H5 and don't have that problem. Try storing the batteries out of the camera and testing them after a while. I bought 8-2500 mahduracell batteries and found that these were worst I have ever had - they quickly discharged when stored (outside of the camera). I now use Sony and Sanyo eneloop batteries and have no problems. The discharge problem were a function of the batteries and not the camera (unless you have a faulty camera).

Almost all rechargeable aa cells have a very
short charged life. Whether they are in the camera or not except for the Eneloops and the new Eveready "Hybrids". These last indefinately and they claim to only drop 30 percent in a year. I personally use the Eneloops and am very happy with them.. Jim |
I have not had this problem but I use mine every 2-3 days, at least for a few shots. I use Lithium batteries and they last me 300-500 pictures.

Most standard rechargeables have a terrible shelf life. I've had the same kind of problems with my H1, H5 and my Nikon speedlights.
The solution was simple: Sanyo Eneloop or RayOvac Hybrids both have a shelf life of almost a year. A. A. Katz http://www.aakatz.com/whitepaper |
Get some Eneloop batteries and you won't have this problem again. Even though they are rated at 2000 mAh, they are built on a different type of technology and will last longer than the 270mm mAh batteries out there.Check the Amazon link below. You can't beat that!!!

Costco has a Sanyo kit that includes 8AA, 4AAA, 2C and 2D adaptors, & charger in a plastic "suitcase" for $25. Best deal for good batteries!
