Hi All,
Here is a very good Sony Face Detection web page, it explains its value. A picture is worth a thousand words. I hope Sony can deliver as promised: http://www.sony.jp/products/Consumer...-H7/feat2.html Nicholas P.S... Digital Gal, Almost missed your mention of my H9. Still no word on shipping dates. Received theHD cord, MS Pro Duo 4GB, Extra Battery. Ordered the 74mm UV filter. Still waiting for the H9and warranty. I check every day, just like a kid at Christmas. Will keep you updated. My R-1 'seems to know' about my coming H9. Nicholas |

Nice link Nicholas. So you got all the things you need for the H9 except the camera itself?
![]() As to lack of AE Lock, this is what i'm gonna do. Maybe you knew already. MAN-POWER AEL: Suppose you choose theAperture priority, set the right Aperture first then move your camera closeto your subject and get the idealspeed reading. Memorize it and quick turn to the Manual mode. Adjust the aperture and shutter speed asap. Hope your light source won't change till you press the shutter. In my case, i alsohope my babywon't crawl or run(later)somewhere else. Hope you all get the right camera(s) you want.:bye: |

![]() ![]() Take a look at this pic. Courtesy from the link Nichlas provided. To use their Face Detection, we must set to AUTO or Scene mode(their manual says so). We can't use it on A, S, P or M mode.Isn't that niceif we can use it on Shutter Speed priority mode. So we just set to thehight shutter speed to freeze the subject and experient with different speed results? That was what i meant. |

Hi Caddie,
Yes, I just received info my 74mm UV Filter has shipped. I now have the HD Cord, MS Pro Duo 4 GB, Extra Battery. I will be selling my older cameras to cover the cost. Believe it or not, yesteday I confirmed with Sony by Chat, that the Tele Lens increases the entire zoom range by 1.7 ( not just a portion of the camera's long end zoom). I saw a wide image and close-up of an elephant somewhere on the web. Can't find it now. But based on this sample imageI decided I want the 732 mm reach. I am goimg from 10MP of my R1 to 8 MP of the H9. But I have been cropping more and more of my 10MP R-1 images to get the image I want. So I figure that the H9's zoom will let me get near to 8MP of my desired subject rather than a small crop of my R1's image. Hopefully this will offset the difference in sensor size to some extent. Regards, Nicholas |

That's it! Thanks Buda.
To see what he is eating and the veins on his face is amazing to me for the type of camera and lens we are talking about. Nicholas |

I think that a face detection option works as a kind of multipoint metering with AE lock.. Focusing on the lightest spots.. (no idea how it would work on a dark skin though).
I don't believe it will be able to recognize animal 'faces' ![]() |
