well the decision between the hx5 and tx7 comes down to whether you prioritize longer zoom range, or smaller size and pocketability. they share a sensor and processor, so image quality within their shared zoom range should be the same. there will no doubt be differences attributed to the lenses, but both are good lenses and shouldn't go wrong either way.

I think the same. Iiiiiiii do not need long zoom & GPS - but others prefer it.
Let's wait for HX5 :-) |

DonalDuc,
I own a TX1. I just ordered a TX7 (on the way). What attracted to me to the TX7 was the higher-res LCD (900k pixels or more). Much higher than the 230k or so pixels on the TX1. However, I've read on some forums that there is NO real visible difference. I find that hard to believe. My Canon G10's LCD is somewhere in the range of 400k pixels on a 3" LCD, and it looks fantastic- like looking at a computer monitor. What's your opinion of the TX7's screen, especially vs the smaller TX1's screen (if you've seen it)? |

I think it is true - the difference of both displays is not "world moving / shattering" :-)
There are other features of TX7 - especially comparing with TX1 25 -100 contra 35 - 140 MemStick/SDHC contra MemStick fullHD 1920x1080 contra 1280x720 AVCHD/MPEG4 contra MPEG4 stereo contra mono 3.5" contra 3" and so on TX7 is a fine camera. Last edited by DonalDuc; Feb 18, 2010 at 5:54 PM. |

scissor-
The video time restriction only applies within the EU community. As for me, I am going to wait for the HX-5 to hit the market and for the first professional reviews. Hopefully, Sony will have improved on the CMOS learning curve. Looking back to last year, 2009, the WX-1 was a letdown, due to the "reddish" cast seen in the outdoor photos that seemed to raise havoc with the blues and the greens. I returned the WX-1 and purchased the TX-1 which was unaffected with that "reddish" problem. I also own the HX-1 which was unaffected. So based on that experience, my plan is to wait and see. The TX-7 that DonalDuc has so kindly provided multiple sample photos from does indeed look very promising. So that is my plan. Sarah Joyce |

For example, I notice on my TX1, sometimes the menu text can look slightly pixelated especially when the display is in normal (not high) brightness. |
