Default SONY RX10-III Hot Shoe Problem

Hi... New here and this is my first post... (Shall I break out the champagne?!)

Just bought a Sony Cyber Shot RX 10-III. In my photo studio I use a pair of Bolens Mono Strobe Lights which have always done the job for me...

A ProMaster Hot Shoe adapter I purchased to trigger the Strobe dors NOT work on the Sony... It does, however, work 100% OK on a Panasonic FZ1000... There is nothing wrong with the adapter. From what I can gather from my dealer, the Hot Shoe on the camera is unique to Sony and not compatable with any other adapter...

So... does anyone out there have any ideas how I can trigger my Strobes via my PC sync cable? I sure hope so...

Thanks a lot for reading my post...

I would say that you got the wrong adapter for your camera. Sony uses the old Minolta pin layout for flash, which is not compatible with anybody else, as it does not have a center pin. I believe there are adapters for the Sony/Minolta cameras available from places like Adorama and B&H Photo. Probably, Amazon would also have what you need.

Hi VT... Thanks a lot for the suggestion... We've tried Sony who were absolutly useless as far as help goes.. We'll see try and see if a Minolta related hot shoe adapter will do the trick...

G'day Bill

Welcome to 'Steves' forum - you'll find us a beaut mob of guys & gals with whom you can find all sorts of photographic advice

One of the things with a company that develops heaps of stuff rather than following the crowd, is that some of their stuff becomes incompaatible with the rest of the game. This applies to some Sony stuff - it's beaut kit but sometimes it leaves you hi & dry

If you can't find a solution to the adapter you're trying at the moment you might need a different one with different connectors

Would this adapter help?

Maybe other Sony users here could double check things too
Hope this helps
