It appears from the little information available that the WX-1 will use a high definition LCD and no OVF.

Tullio, I find my ovf very handy and have no problem with it on the W300, after seeing the pics of the Canon S90 on DPR, I now don't believe the WX1 will be the flagship compact camera from Sony, and expect Sony to come up with an answer to Canon S90 which has more manual adjustments than the WX1 which is an automatic camera.
Lets see if there is a W400-500 in the works ![]() Camera: Sony DSC-W300 ISO 400, (exif attached) no noise reduction Last edited by Wirraway; Sep 21, 2009 at 10:39 AM. Reason: add image |

Hi there, Ian-
To solve the low light level shooting equation, I recently opted to go to the Sony A-230 DSLR camera and I have been very pleased with its performance right up to ISO 3200. I have attached an ISO 3200 photo sample. Sarah Joyce |

Hi Sarah
Since I posted yesterday I found 70 odd pics taken with WX1, got to say this camera produces good usable pics at ISO 1600-3200, check them out: http://www.flickr.com/groups/dsc-wx1/pool/ Use "more properties" to see exif Sony DSC-WX1: ISO 3200 Last edited by Wirraway; Sep 22, 2009 at 6:40 AM. |

Hi Ian-
Although the WX-1 is basically an automatic camera, the photos are quite impressive. We will have to wait and see how Sony will respond to the Canon S-90 camera. Have a great day. Sarah Joyce |

Adam-
I respectfully disagree. The Canon S-90 is targeted to the market niche inhabited by folks who want more control over their photos via increased manual control, which is not a strong card for the Sony WX-1. Have a great day. Sarah Joyce |

I just browsed Canons website and looked at the S-90. It looks like a remarkable camera. If I hadn't just bought a point and shoot I'd buy that in a heart beat. I love the control ring, its a unique idea, and the fact that it can make RAW images. Does it have a CMOS sensor?

Adam-
No, I do not believe that the Canon S-90 incorporates a CMOS imager. Rather, it brings back the S- series cameras that have been missing from the Canon line for several years. Sarah Joyce |

Sarah is right the Canon S90 uses a CCD sensor not CMOS as used in WX1.
