. . . . but I am sure they share the same flash. Any ideas why?

The software may set a higher ISO for flash pic's on the P150 as was the case between the P5 and the P7.

I do not know if this is the case as I belive he usedthe same setting on both.

For P150, Steve writes:

"The flash has an average range, which is sufficient for most indoor situations."

For P100, he says:

"When shooting indoors you will have to work within the limited flash range (11.5 feet) and 38mm wide angle focal length. You'll obtain the best indoor results when shooting portraits of individuals or small groups. Capturing a well- exposed flash image of a large-sized room is beyond the P100's capability."

The strange thing is that Sony rates the P150 at • Flash Effective Range: 0.66 – 11.48 ft. (0.2 - 3.5m) and the P100 at • Flash Effective Range: 1.6 – 12.5 ft. (0.5 – 3.8m) Take a Look yourself P100: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...uctSKU=DSCP100and P150: http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...uctSKU=DSCP150

You have to be careful when looking at marketing specs without any qualifiers for ISO speed, focal length, etc. (especially when the lens on these models is more than twice as bright at wide angle, versus full zoom.

If you check page 28 of the owners manual for the P100, you'll see the recommended maximum flash range is 3.5m at wide angle, dropping down to 2.5 meters at full zoom when using Auto ISO.

You'll find the same specs in the W1 manual.

In other words, the marketing specs don't have any qualifiers for ISO speed or amount of zoom used. So, take them with a "grain of salt".

Well, I just went out and got a P150 today, now I can actually compare them against eachother taking the same pic's on the same tripod. So far my guess is that they will be almost identical.
