Dear All,
Time for decision. I need to choose between P200 and w12 (black european version of w1). Here are the info: 1- Where i will buy it (germany) p200 is only 30 € more expensive than w12, which is not a lot. 2-I am an advanced amateur, which means i like to play with settings a lot. 3-I need to take a lot of pictures from meetings and workshops, which means a lot of portrait, indoors, and people moving... So can you please share your opinion about the pro's and con's of both P200 and W12? thank you ps. i read almost al threads on the board, and got even more confused :? |

The P200 would help you in moving people with flash with High speed shutter mode. That mode is not availible in the W12.
Though, the W12 is more professional looking. But the size bother you? It's a hard decision for your purposes, and if you settle for a little more bulkiness. Like the W12. |

The biggest difference is that the P200 of course is 7 Mpixel, while the W1 is 5.
P200 has got MANUAL balance too. Flash placement is different, causing the W1 to have (a lot more) red-eye. Compared to the P200 you could go saying it's almost nonexistant. Flash placement of the W1 has the benefit of not having those overly cast shadows made by the flash, though. It's still present, but not so ugly. And batteries. Penlight or lithium. And last but not least LCD size. |

At 30 €, I think the P200 is a better buy because of resolution andfeatures.
The only key advantage of W series is the LCD (2.5") and the use of AA batteries (if that is important to you). Also note that if you have plans of using lens adapters, the positioning of P series flash does not cause shadows, unlike the W series. A more fair comparison is between the 7Mp cameras, P200 and W7 |
