I do plan on buying my first ever DSLR either this week or the next, and with that goes compiling a list of accessories for it. One thing that is quite important obviously is a good case. I want to invest in a good case that can be locked to protect my gear as I plan on investing more and more money into photography as I being to learn more and more and spend more time doing it.
So.... I want a very hard and durable case, ex. Pelican cases. I want it to be able to lock, either built in lock or one I can buy that would lock the case. I would like it to have enough room for at least the camera (Sony A230), 1 or 2 lens, remote, battery, my Sony W290 P&S and a few filters. I would like it to be under $80. I was looking at the Pelican 1400 case, but there may be a better one somewhere, hence this thread. Thanks! edit: Sorry! I meant to post this in the Sony DSLR section, not P&S.

Adam-
I use a Sumdex Video Camcorder case that works very well for me. At least to me, lock-ability is not an issue at all. Once somebody grabs the case, they can force the lock when it is convenient to them. They will be miles away from you! Perhaps, I have a different view point, as a woman. My camera case is also my purse, so naturally, I keep track of its whereabouts all the time. I am careful, as you should be as well. Get a convenient case and keep track of it. Pelican cases are way too big for me! Sarah Joyce |

Thanks for your input.
However I still want a hard durable case. Not only so that I can lock it, but so I don't have to worry about damaging my camera gear. I can throw it around more with a Pelican like case.

I apologize if that was not the intention but it certainly seems like it. |

Yes, I get the same impression. I consider it to be "spam." Have a great day. How is the new Sony A-230 coming along? Sarah Joyce |

Those look really excellent, Adam-
Personally I find myself very much at home with the A-230, and I consistently, like you, Adam, get great image quality. Have a great day. Sarah Joyce |
