I found some batteries at batteries.com;

Batteries.com Brand Konica / Minolta Li-Ion NP-400 Digital Camera Battery
Our Price: $31.99

Energizer ER-D710 Lithium Ion Digital Camera Battery
Our Price: $32.99

Has anyone bought from them before?

Is one battery better than the other?

Thanks

Has anyone ever bought any other brand of bsttery for thier 5D?

Should I just get a km np-400 or will some/any of the third party batteries work/fit?

I haven't for this camera, but I've used 3rd party batteries before.

For example, I gottwo 850mAh Lithium Ion Batteries for my Konica KD-510z for about $12.00 delivered (for both).

It looks like NP400 generics are selling for a bit more with shipping (around $15 bucks each on Ebay after shipping from most vendors).

But, quality can vary., So, use third party batteries at your own risk. I've personally never had a problem with one (but, from time to time, you hear stories about batteries exploding, etc.).

I read a review of non-OEM batteries (for an Oly 8080, not a KM, admittedly) and the upshot was that Energizer and Uniross were both good capacity-wise and had the required safety circuits to ensure that they don't explode. The unknown brand/unbranded (read "dirt cheap") batteries did not have the same safety circuits, so could explode under some circumstances, and were often lower capacity than was claimed.

As a result, I bought a Uniross spare for my 5D - I wasn't to much more than the no-name batteries on Ebay so I figured that it was worth the extra.
