Hi all
I recently got an A55 and I canīt complain about high ISO performance. I shot these pictures just now to post and I like alot it's features... more and more, day after day. These photos are at ISO 12800, the first ones on Multi Frame Noise Reduction option and second ones on single shot ISO. I can see a huge noise difference but not a huge (maybe very slight... or none) detail difference. Images are JPG straight out of camera, only resize for post on IrFanView All hand held

lol, indeed Captain Obvious!

Although I'm not sure B&W would look good for sport photography. I prefer that horse shot posted by TCAV in colour... Hmmm, have to try it out first, I've never printed images with such a high ISO. Quote:

A35 also have the MFNR, try it and you will be amazed with the results
even on moving subjects, it can take low noise with good detail... and no ghosting

well... you can. The camera keeps the first shot to be the photo and uses the other 5 shots to compare and remove noise.
if the subject is moving alot, the 6 shots are completely differente and the camera don't have much to compare and can't remove noise, but you won't have ghosts on image... just the noise that the camera couldn't remove. And it will increase the shot to shot time because it takes time to take the 6 shots and to analise the image. I've done some tests with this function and even on moving subjects if you dont need to to be fast to take several photos, worth to try it... in the worst scenario you will get a photo as bad like a single shot ISO... but it can be slightly better if the camera can remove some noise

Apsc is really only good upto 3200 and you can push it to 6400. 12800 is not wroth the effort. That is where the ff camera play, like the d4 and the new 5d3.

Nowadays, the ISO values are rising more and more. The cameras even with APS-C sensor has a fantastic performance IMO.
I am not a professional photographer, just like photography. The A55 has ISO up to 25K ... Garbage is for those who need to take a picture to sell, but who just want a memory of a place or a moment ... you better have that have not ![]() I am changing from a bridge camera to the A55 camera and can not even compare the performance ![]() ![]() I could not go from ISO 400 and even 400 in low-light photos were really bad ... I can now take reasonable pictures up to 6400 and I still have one more ISO stop usable... and for those cases where nothing else works, still have another ISO stop to try my luck. So, IMO these high ISO settings on entry-level cameras are a really nice thing to have even if the photos don't came out perfect... we at least can have an image ![]()

ISO 6400 samples from my A35 are very similar in quality to the D300S, the major difference being the the SLTs produce a little more chroma noise.

None of the crops currently are good at 12800. You can work with them with a very heavy handed nr in pp. but the yellow is still visible. Even in resized samples it is apparent. 6400 is workable with moderated nr. The pp products looks good. There is still a huge gap, ff are good to 25600 with apsc level of noise at 3200 with the new 5d3.
