Default A55 Soft Images

I know that I'm not the first to suggest that images straight from the A55 are a little soft but now I see that Nikon D7000 users with the same sensor are reporting a similar effect.
With both cameras it appears that a good lens is more important than ever to get the benefits of the 16 mps and PP is a must.

With a bit of work the images are sharp enough but not straight from the camera.
The lens here was a CZ 16-80mm.

What settings are you using on the A55?

I'm using Standard mode with sharpness +3 and everything else at default.
DRO is off.

In fairness I am used to images from my Lumix m4/3 cameras and Leica X1 where the AA Filters are weak , so images with a little less punch are to be anticipated.

It's just curious that compared to the A350 I'm not seeing the crispness I was expecting without Post Processing ; all the detail seems to be there.
Given that Nikon owners are saying the same thing I wonder if Sony has overdone the AA on this sensor.
Here's one from this afternoon sharpened up. Full size it looks fine with plenty of detail in the fleece so the camera is perfectly usable but needs work.

I generally have mine on Vivid Sat +1 and Sharpness +2.

But generally add a bit of sharpness later.
