That might be goodfor some people to downsize individual images for e-mail or such. But as far as I know it is a simple resize, and for critical work you want a decent filter like Lanczos or bicubic.

It isn't very handy for resizing a bunch of images. Irfanview thumbnails is the handiest for that unlessyou want to go with more sophisticated methods like Genuine Fractals or stepped interpolation. But the Lanczos filter in Irfanview is very good and batch resizes from Irfanview thumbnails is easy.

you can 'batch' resize by selecting multiple images and then right clicking

it makes a SEPARATE (and highly customizable) smaller copy

lanczos and/or bicubic filter is only necessary when interpolating UPWARDS

all my web postings are done using this 'powertoy'

Yeah you're right about that. Bicubic, etc. is for upsizing.
