has anyone used this lens (Minolta AF 35-200/4.5-5.6 xi) with Dynax 5D? how it works?

it's a good lens compared with minolta AF18-200 or 70-210/3.5-4.5 for example? (no info / review found yet)

I can't find any user reviews or MTF charts for the 35-200mm f/4.5-5.6 xi

But, all else being equal (and it never is), as a general rule of thumb, the greater the difference between wide and long, the more compromises a manufacturer needs to make in the optical design.

So, it's most likely going to be a lower quality lens compared to something like the 70-210mm f/3.5-4.5 (which by most accounts, is about the same optical quality as the 70-210mm f/4 in a lighter package).

It's likely that the 70-210mm f/3.5-.4.5 will be sharper throughout the 70-210mm focal range compared to a lens like the 35-200mm f/4.5-5.6.

The 70-210mm is also a brighter lens, helping the AF sensors to see better for focusing.

But, you've got more focal range from wide to long with a lens like the 35-200mm. So, depending on your use for the images (viewing/print sizes, quality expectations), it may be fine in a more versatile focal length for your use, depending on the conditions you'll use one in.

I see 3 of these lenses (35-200mm f/4.5-5.6 xi) at http://www.keh.com starting in bargain condition at $84, with two in Ex Condition for $126 and $133) But, I don't know a thing about this lens.

I have the km 70-210 f3.5-4.5, it is a nice sharp lens. I genreally try to steer clear of any lens that has greater than 3x zoom, I have found them to be dim and or full of optical defects. I would also steer clear of the x/xi lens, power zoom IMO is just one more thing that can fail you.(also it takes battery life) This is just my own preference, not any indication of the quality of the lens.

I would only get a superzoom if I had an occasion where only one lens could be packed, a situation I avoid like the plague.
