Sony A57 Digital Zoom I.Q.

1 Attachment(s)
This image, taken with zoom at 300mm setting plus 1.7x of digital zoom produces a magnification factor equal to a 510mm lens. The 35mm equivalent of a 735mm lens. The degradation of I.Q. seems minimal to me.

Yes detail is very rich. I guess the message is don't dismiss digital zoom too quickly. Very nice.

I failed to mention that the shot was taken through a double pane glass window.

That's a mighty good lens to begin with, and Sony touts the clear image zoom as being nearly lossless. I believe that's up to 2X, and digital is another 2X, for a total of 4X. Wouldn't that be 1200mm before applying the "crop" factor? Amazing.
