None of this surprises me in the least.. I remember reading an article in a photography magazine about 12+ years ago, just when Sony were thinking of getting serious with their performance cameras (which were very average back then) and competing with the likes of Nikon and Canon's DSLR's. Somebody asked Sony why they don't put out a DSLR which could really be taken seriously. They replied that they could easily do that but they were heading in a new direction and they would launch their gear along with a long term strategy, only when they were ready..
Well at the time I thought - that's big words,, but then again Sony are a H-U-G-E company and they almost had me believing that they were speaking the truth, so I never really doubted them.. Of course since then we have seen the direction they were heading in, haven't we? - Mirrorless..!! When I first saw what the A6000 was capable of and saw their direction emerging, I knew the writing was already on the wall. When the A7 series was released, I think other companies got the hint that it was already too late for them, but they would battle on with their bastion's - the almost defunct DSLR's...!!!

Haven't they made a great job of sticking to their word..??
