That AF switch thing. I have a sony body, sony, sigma and tokina lenses. and i use nikon too once in a while. this af/mf is such a pain that when i want to use mf, i change both switches. i'm almost never using mf for just one shot anyway, so the extra second to change both switches doesn't matter. somebody sharper than me may be able to do it better.

Hey there Alpha shooters...I want your honest opinions on one of my first photos taken with an A35!

I like it.
I'd like to see it in color, though.

Really? Or are you just being polite?
![]() What about composition? Are my settings good for morning-fog exposure? TCav, don't worry, I can take anything you throw at me! Constructive criticism can only make my photohraphy evolve. Believe me, you don't want to see the color version! ![]()

I think that might be the first time anyone ever accused me of that.

I'd like to see more of the clear foreground and less of the sky, but the proportions aren't bad. Perhaps a higher vantage point might have helped with that. In addition, the houses in the foreground are lined up. Perhaps shifting your vantage point to your left might have made the composition more interesting. It might have looked better later on when some of the fog burned off from the distant hilltop but remained in the river valley. But considering that these suggestions are all after-the-fact, without any knowledge of what else you might have been able to do at the time, this might be the best photograph that could possibly have been captured given the conditions. In which case, I like it the way it is. Why? Does everyone in Geneva paint their houses really ugly colors? ![]()

Sorry, are you suggesting you have never made a typo? ![]() Quote:

The image was taken from my balcony, so I can't really change my vantage point in a way that would modify the perspective. Merci! ![]() Quote:
But thanks again for the critique, I appreciate the feedback. A couple of months ago, one user said something really funny about one of my photos with a crooked horizon: your photo is as straight as a drunken sailor ! ![]() I laughed so hard...

Could you have taken one from the roof of your building?

Nope, the roof of my building is mostly a private swiming pool.

So I got over my fear of dissapointment and finally decided to personally check what kind of images the A35 produces at 6400 ISO...here are the results, not too shaby (str8 out of the camera):
![]() ![]() 100% crop: ![]() It's definitely not a D4, but for a 460 euro camera, the A35 handles noise pretty well, don'tcha think? ![]()
