90/2.8 Macro

55mm filters

I can attest that the tamron is a great lens, but of course the 85 is supposed to be a top lens too. I'd say the difference is portrait/macro as primary intent, if neither then you'd have to figure out what qualities are important to you. I like the macro ability and for how I use the lens the extra 2 stops and premium price arent needed.
