After spending days :?on the internet searching, researching and email follow-ups, conducting a series of wiring tests on cables and remote socketsI finally suceeded in hooking up a minolta 7D to an IR-1 infra-red.
The instructions are contained in the attached zip but all you need is an IR-1, an IR-1(c) cable together with a small sharp blade, a wire stripper, a soldering iron and some insulation tape.
The solution worked perfectly :-)for muliple trigger tests on my 7D (firmware 1.10e) as long as it was set to manual focus and the menu screen disactivated (to minimize drain on battery).
I don't take any responsibility for other DIY enthusiasts but anyone who wants to operate a 7D remotely at a distance of up to 60 metres I don't see any other solution, at least until ZigView bring in a wireless solution to their remote viewfinder.
Good Luck to anyone who tries this out.
