I have an KM 5D. I can only get approximately 100-110 pictures on a 1GB or 512MB SD card regardless of the size settings. Using a 256 cardI seem to be getting a correct number of photos.

Am I doing something wrong or has my camera got a glitch?

A couple of questions:
1) How did you get an SD card to work in the 5D? Mine only works with compact flash.
2) "Using a 256 cardI seem to be getting a correct number of photos" - what is the "correct number"?

Sorry, I meant a CompactFlash card. I must still be asleep.

My guess is that you've got it set to RAW + JPEG. In that case, you're still going to produce full resolution RAW file that's close to 9MB in size, regardless of the resolution settings for the JPEG file created along with it. You shouldn't be able to fit 100 images in 512MB. But, that would be about right for a 1GB card.

Actually, it is entirely possible to use SD cards.

At one point Minolta made a nice SD-CF adapter, these are very hard to find.

However, there are others available for about $15 or so. If you look you will find 'em.

Be Careful. The vast majority of them are too big to fit in cameras with the card slot covers closed.

Here's an old thread on this subject:
