i'm noticing that there are not as many "look what i shot posts" as before. thought i'd share mine... i decided to sleep in yesterday (being that it was sunday), and as i sat at my dinning room table about 7:30'ish enjoying my coffee, i heard a very familiar sound that got me really excited right outside my window. i looked out to see 5 or 6 kalij pheseants sunning themselves in my neighbors yard! i grabbed my 5d, slapped the 75-300 CC special on and snuck out my back door to take a few shots. i know it's a bit soft (manual focus), and a bit over-exposed (forgot to set the ISO) but for my first birding shots, it's cool. i had enough time to snap a few photos before another neighbor walking his dog scared'um off.

Nice bird, here are a few I took, not as exotic.... I used the Minolta 500mm Mirror lens on my 7D, handheld. I was standing on a floating dock that my little girls was rocking so it wasn't a very stable platform. The pictures have been resized and compressed, hope they're viewable. All in all, not that bad for an amature..

Hawaii Built,

I used JASC Paint Shop Pro to get the file size down. I resized the photos first then compressed them. Probably not the right thing to do, like I said, I'm an amateur If anyone knows a good way, let us know.
