recently i began shooting local toughman contests for a friend of mine that promotes them. I recently replaced my 28-70 2.8 minolta with sigma 24-70 2.8 cause i dropped the other out of an airplane taking aerial photos. i also just got my 70-200 2.8 sigma, which i love. Problem i have is that my 3600 flash does not recycle as quickly as i would like to get the shots, even in the HSS mode. just wondering if the 5600 or some other flash would be better. thanks, ecap

I've found that NiCad batteries give the shortest re-cycling time compared to alkaline and NiMh.

My 5600HS has a shorter re-cycling time than my 3600HS – maybe a couple of seconds. The 5600HS has a couple of advantages:

1) If you don't need full flash output you can turn down the power level which helps shorten re-cycling time.

2) An external power pack is available for the 5600HS which also reduces re-cycling time. It's only recently appeared on the Sony site. Given its price for what it does one has to wonder about value for money on this one unless you are a professional.

Cheers,
