grip came in today. only got to install it and test fire but all seems well. feels pretty good. dont care for the external wires but they tuck away nicely. will post again when i get a chance to test it a little more.

I didn't know there was a vertical grip for the Maxxum 5D - where did you get it from?

ebay, it is the ownuser brand. requires a wire to the remote port and wire to the DC input port which it comes with. I bought mine used because it was the first one i came across for sale in the u.s. They sell for about $130 new but i have herd of some problems getting them from the manufacturer in taiwan. Feels pretty good. Wish it had all the controls on it but thats ok. i mainly bought it to get more battery life and increase size of the camera to make it easier to hold.
