i recently bidded on a 24 2.8 lens and was out bid

the seller contacted me about 2 days ago, and said that the originalwinner was no longer interested and was giving me the opportunity to buy at my last bid price which was 150.00

i contacted e bay on this to find out if this is genuine, and they told me that it is not unusal for a second chance offer to be given, but yet in ( my e bay )shows second chance offers ( 0 )

If you're paying via paypal through the ebay interface you should be covered pretty good.

I would not pay to a paypal account directly. Make sure it all happens through the ebay interface, if it doesn't show up as an item you've won then I'd be worried that its not legit.

That sounds strange. Maybe the person that won the auction balked when he or she was presented with those payment terms. And that's how you got it.

What's the history of this particular seller?

That is proof it is a bougus deal. eBay warns not to pay through Western Union. Always check on eBay for your messages. If the email isn't listed, it did not come through eBay.

Don't even think about it. The guy is fishing for chumps.

MINOLTANUT is right, ignore all second chance offers.

Sounds like the original sellers account has been hijacked. I had a friend selling a high end carbon fiber triathlon bike and some one took over his account and then turned around and offered 2nd chance deals to all the bidders. Asking them to pay to a different paypal account.

Ebay & Paypal were all over that.

Some second chance offers are legit, but not if it happened outside of the EBAY interface and certainly not through Western Union.
