Hi cgl,

Perhaps I misunderstand your post. Just to clarify, even though the eqivalent focal length is 43mm on a digital body, the apeture does not change. i.e. if you have [email protected] 28mm on a film body you have f4 at an equivalent focal length of 43mm on a digital body.

Have you come across the lens reviews here:


There are sveral user reviews of the 18-70mm and one for your 28-80mm. The average rating for the 18-70mm is so-so.

Thanks guys, good to know.

When I tried the 28-80 at the store the f was 5.6 on Auto. I should have tried manual to check that indeed the f-stop could go to f4.5 (as per the lens) and not the f5.6.
