Sony has already announced that they're planning to release both an Advanced Amateur Model and a Pro Model, and has already announced that they'll have a number of new lenses.

Anyone that knows anything is not going to be allowed to say anything.

So, you'll have to wait for the announcements (unless you want to read the rumours and speculate).

David Kilpatrick, the UK photo mag publisher, estimates Sony will have their un-veiling in September. The initial statments in the Spring intimated the high amateur model would hit the stores mid-November and the pro model after January 1st.

David's been making predictions about "launch imminent" for almost two months now. ;-)

http://photoclubalpha.com/2007/07/05...unch-imminent/

David was one of the European Journalists invited to the DSLR-A100 launch (which was held in Pakistan for those journalists, whereas the DSLR-A100 launch was held in Alaska for the U.S. Journalists). I would not expect the same locations to be used again.

From all indications, Sony is keeping a tighter lid on this one and the number of journalists being invited will likely be smaller this time around. Unless something has changed in the past day or two, the last post from David that I saw indicated he had not received an invitation to any kind of launch.

Anybody that knows anything is going to be under an NDA and they won't be allowed to say anything. Sorry, but that's how it works. The manufacturers decide when the information about new models is made public and journalists must abide by that if they want to be privvy to information about them.

Sony had already published a lot more info about their upcoming plans than you'd normally get from Canon and Nikon in advance of new models. You'll have to wait for the rest.

Again, Patience is a virtue. ;-)

I saved myself a bag of confusion by buying the A-100 a couple of months ago.
Won't be in the market for at least a year, maybe much longer.

I hope it comes out soon. So I'll have something to put my Minolta lens on, tired of using them as paper weights.
