IOW, you've got 4 steps:

1. Open the image you want to downsize using Irfanview (File>Open).

2. Resize the image to around 720 pixels wide for posting using the Image>Resize/Resample menu choice (as shown in my screen print from Irfanview above).

3. Save the downsized image (and I'd give it a different filename so that you don't overwrite your original). Use the File>Save As menu choice in Irfanview to save it. Make the JPEG Quality around 80% (you'll see a quality slider pop up when you use the File>Save As menu choice)

4. When typing a post, use the Browse button you'll see under the text entry screen to browse for the downsized image you saved on your hard drive and select it to embed it in your post.

When I open the "File/Save picture as" menu I see under "Save as type"
the following: "BMP - Windows Bitmap" which I chose. But I don't know
what that means.
You'll want to select a file type of jpeg (just like the original) when saving with irfanview, using a jpeg quality amount of around 80%.

Hi JimC,

Have to go to a veterinarian with my Dobermann now and my youngest son
wants to use the PC.

Will try it again tomorrow.

No problem. If you don't understand one of the steps (see the 4 step process in my previous post), just ask and I'll try to explain it better (or make some screen prints showing the steps and post them).

Once you figure out how to do the first one, it will seem very easy for the rest. I'm looking forward to seeing some photos from your new A700. It sounds like you really like the camera (I know I like mine).

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

JimC, I finally made it.

Really want to thank you for your assistance and PATIENCE.

By the way, when I resized the image I went down to 640 x 427 pixels. 720 x 480 was still too big.

Will now try to post more pictures.

Best wishes from a very happy
