For something the size of a camera, I don't see where you're really need a higher quality macro lens for web size images.

Even the 18-200mm or 18-250mm zoom type lenses should be able to do OK for auction listings, and with a 12MP image, you've got some room for cropping, too.

Just zoom in some to get rid of the distortion and fill the frame more, and stop down the aperture some (higher f/stop numbers) for better depth of field and a sharper image. Most lenses are not going to be as sharp with the aperture wide open, and you may want better depth of field, too. Just use a tripod if shutter speeds are too slow for good results. Your lighting is probably going to be more important than the lens you use.

P.S.

If you want an inexpensive shorter focal length zoom with 1:4 Macro ability, look at the Minolta 35-70mm f/4 Macro.

It's a sharp little lens with nice color/contrast.

They are selling for well under $100 used (35-70mm is not a very popular focal range on a a DSLR). keh.com has some in stock now, starting out at $33 in bargain condition.

Minolta Autofocus Zooms at keh.com

I bought a used Maxxum 7000, including a Minolta 35-70mm f/4 Macro Autofocus Lens in bargain condition from keh for $52 a while back. ;-) The lens looks and works fine (except it was missing hood and caps). Ditto for the camera (looks and works just fine).

WITH 12 MP you can stand across the room and still be ok for web pics after cropping..
