the first is the sigma 135-400mm 4.5-5.6 APO

the second is a tamron 200-400 5.6 LD 5.6

does anyone own both or have shot iwht both

is one faster on auto focus or is one more sharp then the other?

I had a Tamron 200-500mm for a while. It's a pretty good lens but sharpness fell off noticeably above 420mm. I used this lens with an A100 and always felt that AF accuracysuffered at the smaller apertureof the long end. Manual focus worked better. AF sppeed was adeuate with the A100.

I replaced it with a Sigma 100-300mm f/4 + 1.4xTC. I bought this combo based on many reviews you can find on the web. Haven't had a chance to use it yet.

P.S. I bought the Tamron 200-500mm because it had better reviews than the Tamron 200-400mm.
