I have two Maxxum 9 film cameras. When I purchased the 300-G lens, in the early 90's, I sent one off for an upgrade to control the ADI/SSM mechanics in the lens. The other has never had such an update. One camera works perfect with the new SAL 70-200, the other will not. Since the Sony 24-70 is not an SSM lens will it work with the camera that has not had such an update?

Since KM is gone will anyone do this update to the Minolta Maxxum 9? Sony has told me no! Too bad so sad!!!!!!!!!!!:G

The Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 is an SSM lens. It will not Autofocus on cameras that do not support SSM (a Maxxum or Dynax 9 film body will need to have been upgraded by Minolta to get SSM support in order to use this new lens if you want AF).
