Yea, I probably have paranoia. Moral of the story: never buy used dslrs.

I had a similar if not the same problem back in October. I posted a question here for some help.

Here's the post


Since then this has happened one other time. I took out the battery and replaced with a fully charged battery did a factory reset and got it work again on the way home. One thing I need to mention is that one of my batteries is an aftermarket Maxell battery. I don't have any idea if that's the cause of the problem or not but that was the battery in the camera the last time this happened.

Hope you can fix it.

I had this or something happen to my 5D recently. I'm told that there may be a problem with a gear that lifts the mirror and in my case, subject to further inspection, it may be repairable under extended warranty (for nominal cost).

It will be repaired in due course, but in the meantime, served as an excuse to go out and get an A55. So its an ill wind...
