Hi!

I know I wont be much help, but I would suggest if you can pm sintares or luna honour about it, try to.

Maybe they can figure it out for you.

Coz I was able to do it just by following their instructions, as you can see on my post.

Good day to you though!

And good luck for your search too!

Its called DSCA100V104?.exe (its less than a meg, so its easy to download )

The ? depends on your region, America/Canada will be U, UK is E etc

Run the file and extract the two files (.str and .app) to the desktop

Download the hex editor from http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delph...2.htm#download

Extract all the files from the zip to your desktop.

Run the XVI32.exe file

File - open - select the .str file - open

Look at the bottom of the editor, does it say Overwrite or insert ?

If it says insert, on your keyboard tap the Ins or Insert key, till the editor reads Overwrite ( its just like Office, where you can overwrite or insert depending on the mode )

On the top line (line 0) do you see the five 00s?

Click the entry to the right of the five 00s, that cell now highlights to show you are about to edit it.

Type 10, as soon as you enter two digits the next cell along will be highlighted, so don't hit another key or you will change that one as well.

File - save.

There you go.

Update as per Sonys instructions.
Thanks for the graphical tutorial Sintares. Sorry I have not checked this forum for about a year or more.

If anyone have a source for cheap non-english Alphas that are past A100 then I would love to test further with modifying the firmware.

This look promising for my Lumix GF1 which I bought in Japan and only have a japanese menu. It would be great if the same method can be applied to my Lumix GF1 so that I can have an english menu.

Has anyone done it to their japanese version Lumix GF1 and would like to share how you did it? Thanks in advance...

I bought Sony A230 with Japanese Firmware 1.10 and I want to change the firmware to English one.
(Note that 1.10 is latest firmware on A230 and I already have that version installed)

I tried to update the firmware using the same method as described here.
However, my camera is not showing the confirmation dialog to update the firmware. Not even Japanese version.
Is it because I already have latest version 1.10 installed?

Have anyone done it before?
Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I recently bought a Japanese A100 as a replacement for my damaged A100, I modified the Firmware file (or so I thought) updated the camera but the thing stayed in Japanese.

Is there another way to change the language to English? or more like someway to change the firmware again?

Thanks in advance
