I recentlybought the Tamron 28-300mm xr Dion eBay and received it a couple of days ago.Although the Tammy 28-105mm is a good lens (specially considering its price), I wanted a walk around lens with more reach. So I debated between the18-250mm and the 28-300mm. Mostarticles I read suggested that the 18-250mm was a better option. However, not only it was out of my price range, Iwanted more reach than 250mm. So,decided on the 28-300mm instead. Found one on eBay for $175 and decided to give it a try. After the very first batch of shots, I must say that I'm impressed with the IQ it produces. The lens appears to be very sharp at any FL AND it focus very fast (and accurately). I say "it appears to be sharp" because most pictures I took I had the aperture set to no less than f/7.1, so perhaps if I shoot wide open the results will be different at 300mm. Colors are well saturated and the A300 meters much more accurately through it than through the kit lens. I experienced no over exposure and most pictures I took with Ev set to 0. I can now sell my Tamron 28-105mm and the Minolta 100-300mm xi. I just wish Sony would sell the A300 body only.

Hi Tullio-

It looks like you got a bargain! Excellent photos. I also cruise the lenses over at flea-bay and picked up a Sigma 28-105 last week for a song. It is fun to fund a bargain. Here is a photo sample using my K-M 5D and the Sigma 28-105mm lens

Hi Tullio-

Here is that same Sigma 28-105mm lens mounted this time on the Sony A-100.
