so what you're saying is if i use a flash then the CZ is good, but if i dont want to use flash then go with Sigma? How about taking picture at night without the flash and with the flash, which one is better?>

No. What I'm saying is that if I could have gotten the Zeiss for less than I paid for my Tamron 17-50/2.8, I'd have taken it and learned to use a flash.

The difference between the Zeiss and the Sigma is less that 1 f-stop, and only at the wide end.

On that basis, there isn't enough difference between them to make a distinction.

Yes. I got mine about 16 months ago, and paid about $450. But I didn't pay $62 for shipping either. And I got a US warranty.

TCav,

what is your opinion on the SAL18200? Also is $150 a good price for it?

I once had the predecessor of the Sony 18-200, the Konica Minolta 18-200. Both are made by Tamron, and are identical to the one Tamron sells under their own name.

Initially I was pleased with it, but as I began to look critically at the results it was giving me, I saw the flaws. It has significant optical distortion at the wide end, significant chromatic aberration at the long end, and is soft throughout its zoom range. Since you already have the CZ 16-80, you will be very disappointed with the 18-200.

If you're looking for something longer to compliment the CZ 16-80, Sony's 70-300 G is a fine lens, and would be a good choice. DO NOT consider the Sony 75-300.
